The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has made it clear that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, does not need any form of permission from anybody to return to the country.
There have been speculations that Nnamdi Kanu is seeking some sort of permission to return to Nigeria to bury his mother, Sally Ugoeze Nnenne Kanu, who succumbed to her protracted illness and died on August 30 in Germany.
However, a statement by Emma Powerful, the IPOB’s Media and Publicity Director, said Nnamdi Kanu does not need permission from the ‘cabal’ in Aso Rock to return to the country, to either bury his mother or visit.
“Recent decisive diplomatic advances recorded by our leader have taken them by surprise.
“Our leader never asked anybody to campaign for his return to bury his mother.
“Why these busy-bodies would be poking their noses into a matter that does not concern him is beyond understanding.
“Nnamdi Kanu does not need to consult anybody to return here. Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is yet to make his intentions public regarding his proposed visit.
“If and when that happens, they should be rest assured that no permission would be sought from the Aso Rock cabal that rule Nigeria or anybody else for that matter.”
KanyiDaily recalls that the first person to campaign for Nnamdi Kanu’s return to bury his dead mother, is the traditional ruler of Orlu in Imo State, Eze Gideon Ejike.
Eze Gideon Ejike pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to allow Nnamdi Kanu to return to Nigeria and bury his dead mother, noting that the IPOB leader is an Igbo hero and not a terrorist.
