Two Police Officer Dies, Many Other Injured In Fatal Accident At Akure Airport Road [Photos/Video]

Aleast two police officer has died after a car conveying multiple officers was involved in an accident today in Akure, Ondo, state.

Two mobile policemen have reportedly been killed in a fatal accident along Airport Road, Oba Ile, Akure North local government area of Ondo State.

Witnesses said the police Hilux van somersaulted severally before hitting a pavement due to overspeeding, while some reports indicates that the affected policemen were returning to base after performing electoral duties.

Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the accident but said he was yet to be fully briefed about the sad incident which happened on Tuesday afternoon.

Spokesperson for the Ondo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Omotola Ogungbawo, could not be reached for comments but a top official said only two policemen died in the accident.

The source said eight other police officers sustained injuries and attributed the cause of the accident to speed violation, burst tyre and loss of control. Victims of the accident were taken to Police Clinic in Akure by Police Officers at the scene.

KanyiDaily had also reported how the convoy of Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo was involved in a fatal accident in Abuja, killing his police escort rider who was crushed to death by a truck.

Meanwhile, youths in Port Harcourt city have joined the youths in other parts of the country to protest and call for an end to Police brutality. Below is a video of the protest in PHC.
