Gunmen Kills UK-Based Nigerian Woman Who Came For Her Mother Burial In Ibadan
Unknown gunmen have allegedly killed a United Kingdom-based Nigerian woman, Bolanle Aworetan Omojuwa, who returned home for her mother’s burial in Ibadan, Oyo State.
It was gathered that the deceased had come to Nigeria from the UK, where she lived and worked, for the burial for her mother which attracted people from all walks of life and she hosted guests at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Omojuwa was reportedly shot dead by bandits in her car at the Guru Maharaji village, along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway, as the car conveying her and her kids approached Ibadan.
The tragic incident, which occurred last Thursday, August 19, 2021, has thrown friends, Family, and colleagues of the deceased into mourning.
The late UK-based woman was an alumni member of the University of Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University. A friend wrote on her Alma Mater’s WhatsApp platform:
“They say we never die, we just change form and continue our existence in another realm. If this is true, I’m sadly mourning you with my tears. It would have been joy to our world if we weren’t cut down. Bola Aworetan (CO99, Pol Sci) came home from the UK to bury her mom last week or so, and same last week, little did we know she won’t return to the UK again to continue her life.
“This most adorable pretty woman was shot dead in her car in front of her children at Guru Maharaji this past Thursday; unwilling forcing her to escort her mum to the great unknown. Your death is too gripping for me. I’m bewildered and I don’t know how to mourn you…”
When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko, said “to my own knowledge, there is nothing like that.
“I just spoke with the DPO if there is anything like that. I would have been the first person to know or maybe the victim’s family didn’t report to the police,” the CP said.
KanyiDaily had also reported how a Canadian-based Nigerian man was murdered in Lagos, a few days after returning to his hometown in Benin, Edo State.
