Ifeanyi Ubah Calls For Nnamdi Kanu’s Release, Says It Will End Insecurity In South-East

The lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, has called for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement by his media aide, Kamen Ogbonna on Thursday, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah said that the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu will end the spate of insecurity in the South-East.

Senator Ubah, who is the Anambra state governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), urged the Federal government to critically examine the issues surrounding the arrest and detention of the IPOB leader.

He said that some aggrieved youths at the Alaba International Market in Lagos expressed their sadness to him over Nnamdi Kanu’s detention and pleaded with him to intervene in the matter.

The senator said he had robust discussions and exchange of ideas on various issues surrounding South-East development with the youth, as part of his sensitisation and engagement with Anambra indigenes in Lagos.

Ifeanyi Ubah Reveals Why FG Should Release Nnamdi Kanu

The statement titled, “Senator Ubah calls on Federal Government to review arrest, detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”, reads:

“In the course of the conversation, some youth leaders used the opportunity of the visit to express their sadness to the senator over the raging issue of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s detention and pleaded with him to intervene on the matter.

“The senator in his response assured them that there are ongoing efforts behind the scene at finding a political solution to the problem and also promised to relay their message to the federal government with regards to the need to treat the issue as vital.

“The senator at this juncture pleads that the federal government finds a political solution to this. It is our firm belief that if this is done, the present insecurity in Anambra state will come to an abrupt end as the politically sponsored bandits killing people under this guise will have no further excuse at their disposal.”

This comes after angry Igbo traders disgraced Ifeanyi Ubah and stopped him from holding his campaign rally at Alaba International Market in Lagos.
