Police have arrested a 27-year-old man, Enoch Yohanna for allegedly pushing his girlfriend, Ruth Amos, to her death in the Sabon Kaura area of Bauchi State.
It was gathered that Enoch Yohanna engaged his 28-year-old girlfriend, Ruth Amos, in a heated argument after he saw her coming out of the compound of another man.
During the argument, the angry man pushed the deceased, who is the mother of his two children, and she fell and hit her head on the ground.
The state police spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident in a statement, said a patrol by detectives sighted the 28-year-old lady laying in a pool of blood with wounds on her head and blood gushing from her mouth at the Sabon Kaura area of Bauchi metropolis.
The statement said: “On 07/10/2021 at about 0445hrs a Joint patrol team in collaboration with the Peace and security committee while on visibility patrol sighted a young lady laying in a pool of blood with wounds on her head and blood gushing from her mouth at Sabon Kaura.
The team evacuated the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi, where medical doctor certified her dead.
“During the course of investigation, one Hajara Amos aged 56yrs of Bayara village was identified as the deceased mother and also identified the deceased as Ruth Amos aged 28yrs of the same address.
“Consequently, investigation commenced in earnest where one Enoch Yohanna aged 27yrs of Gwallameji Doka was arrested. On interrogation the suspect voluntarily confessed to have committed the crime.
“Further investigation revealed that Enoch Yohanna and the deceased (Ruth Amos) were in a romantic relationship and blessed with 2 children, it was further revealed that on the date of the incident Enoch sighted the deceased coming out of a compound out of jealousy, he challenged her which led to an argument between them and in the process he pushed her where she hit her head on the ground.”
The police said the suspect will soon be profiled and charged to court.
