The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has broken his silence after he had zero votes at the recently concluded PDP presidential primaries.
Following the declaration of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s flagbearer on Saturday, 28th May, Fayose maintained silence.
KanyiDaily recalls that the ex-Governor subsequently sacked his aide for voting Atiku Abubakar in the primary election.
Atiku Abubakar who emerged as the winner had 371 votes and his closest opponent, Nyesom Wike, amassed 237 votes.
Taking to Twitter, Fayose congratulated Atiku Abubakar for winning the presidential ticket and commended Wike for his consistency in action and character.
“I congratulate former VP Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the PDP presidential candidate. I also commend Governor Nyesom Wike for remaining consistent in action and character,”
To my friend and brother, Gov Nyesom Wike, thank you for not abandoning the party when it needed you the most. For accepting the outcome of the presidential primary and also supporting the winner, you have further written your name in gold on the sands of time of politics in Nigeria.
Your political impact within and outside the PDP will remain in the hearts of Nigerians.
This is more to the fact that you saw victory rather than the loss at primary.
Big hearts are magnanimous which you have done. I salute your courage, consistency and doggedness.
To this end, I congratulate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar our flag-bearer and wish him and our party success in the general election”
