JUST IN: Police Arrest Cultists Who Hacked Rival Member To Death One Month Ago

The Lagos State Police command says its operatives have arrested a 22-year-old suspected cultist, Jamiu Rasheed, who was captured on CCTV hacking and shooting to death a rival cult member, Akinola Ayegbusi.

The police said the deceased was killed at a restaurant in the Alapere area of Lagos state on July 7, 2022.

Spokesman of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement posted on the police command twitter handle on Tuesday evening.

According to Hundeyin, investigations revealed that Jamiu has been a member of Klansman Confraternity since 2017 and has participated in the killing of two other rival cultists.

He further disclosed that the command’s investigation into the crime also led to the arrest of the armourer of the group, a 26-year-old Sheriff Module, who was found with two locally made pistols; and one other cultist, Emmanuel Samson.

The spokesman also disclosed that Sheriff who was also part of the killing confessed that it was carried out to avenge the death of their leader who was killed by the Eiye Confraternity on November 23, 2021.

He also said efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing cultists, adding that the suspects will be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations.

“Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist, Jamiu Rasheed, aged 22, who was captured on CCTV on July 7, 2022 hacking and shooting to death one Akinola Ayegbusi, a rival cult member at a restaurant in the Alapere area of Lagos state,” his statement reads.

“Investigations revealed that Jamiu has been a member of Klansman Confraternity since 2017 and has participated in the killing of two other rival cultists.”

The police image maker conveyed the call of the state police commissioner, Abiodun Alabi to parents/guardians as well as traditional/religious/political leaders to prevail on their children/wards and the teeming youth population to stay away from cultism and other social vices.

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily had reported that a 25-year-old suspected kidnap kingpin, Shehu Sani was shot dead while trying to escape after his arrest by the police operatives in the state.

The police said the suspect and his partner who were on their way to their secret rendezvous at Yankari forest at that time, upon interrogation confessed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate terrorising Pindiga, Akko LGA.
