Sophia Momodu, the first babymama of Nigerian singer, Davido, has apologised over the birthday post of her daughter, Imade Adeleke, to celebrate her dad’s 30th birthday.

Davido, who is currently mourning his late three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, celebrated his 30th birthday on November 21st, 2022.

Seven-year-old Imade had taken to her Instagram page and penned down a short message to mark her father’s birthday.

She accompanied her post with a photo of Davido holding unto her while carrying Ifeanyi, an apparent act of tribute to her departed younger brother.

Imade’s mum, Sophia got dragged for her daughter’s birthday post, as many tagged it as insensitive and lacking empathy for the bereavement Davido was going through.

Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, Sophia apologized to Davido’s aggrieved fans, stressing that her intentions were pure and the post is different from what they think.

She wrote: “I realize that the earlier post may come across as insensitive and I sincerely apologize as that was not the intention.

“Imade deeply loves her father and all her siblings, and as a mother, I’m doing my best to guide her through the difficult emotion of grief. from the loss of her brother whilst trying to celebrate her father’s birthday.

“I ask for your consideration and hope that you all can be understanding during these times. Thank you.”
