A student who pleaded anonymity said the deceased was shot in the face at point-blank range.

The student said, “The killing of Desmond has caused panic in the school. Students are even afraid to stay in the hostel. He was shot in the face and had no chance to survive the attack.”

Below are some of their reactions.

“I stayed in Hall 3, Block A, Room 102 in my days in Uniben, before moving to Ekosodin. School was tough in my days, but the hostels were safe havens.

“The killing of Mayor changes a lot of things. 😭”

“I never liked hall3, Hall4 was my safe haven, and even if you rent a fully furnished apartment for me in Ekosodin I won’t stay.”

“Maybe post 2005, you mean. In the same H3 as JJC wey I be then, I was allocated my bed space on resumption and dropped my bag under the bed to rush to my faculty. I returned to the hostel to an unzipped bag, a broken lock, and empty packs of my provisions. It was not stealing.

“The seniors there told me why would buy provisions for only myself, that by doing that I am saying is everyone’s. They took me downstairs to a mammy market that used to be by H2 and asked I buy them drinks. I refused. The next day, I moved to a hotel and finally  off campus.”

“School hostels used to be one of the safest places for students in Uniben, at least I never heard of something like this ever happening there.
How did someone enter Hall 3 unseen, shot and killed someone, and escaped? Thought they finally moved past these senseless killings 🤦🏾‍♀️💔”

“Even a cow can enter hall 3 no one will even notice. The place is like a market square anybody can breeze in and out.”
