The Nigeria Professional Football League’s board of directors has approved an increase in referee compensation for the 2023-24 season.
With the help of the league’s strategic partners, GTI Assets Management, a 30% increase has been accomplished.
Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman of the NPFL, stated that the rise was based on the general increase in transportation costs throughout the country.
“We are well aware of the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies on transportation.”
“Increasing the Match Officials’ allowance by 30% is the right thing to do,” he said.
The new season will get off on Saturday, September 9, with a match between Shooting Stars (3SC) and Plateau United at Adamasingba’s Lekan Salami Stadium.
