The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), through its Public Affairs Director, Adebayo Taofiq, said the crash happened earlier in the day along Agege, Old Abeokuta Road, near the bridge.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, who suffered serious fractures in both hands, lost control while trying to navigate the bridge.
The truck with plate number GGE 624 YJ then crashed off the side and landed on two commercial buses parked below.
LASTMA officials quickly responded, rescuing the injured driver and handing him over to officers from the Elere Police Division.
He was later taken to the General Hospital in Ile-Epo for urgent medical treatment.
To prevent further accidents and protect other road users, LASTMA officers cordoned off the area and diverted traffic.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) also arrived to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed concern over the incident.
He urged all drivers, especially truck operators, to be extra cautious, particularly now that the rainy season has started.
He also emphasized the importance of obeying road safety rules and called on drivers to make use of the newly installed speed-limiting devices to help prevent accidents.
Bakare-Oki also wished the injured driver a quick and full recovery.
