President Bola Tinubu has submitted a request to the National Assembly, asking for approval of a N1.481 trillion budget for Rivers State for the year 2025.
The request was announced during Thursday’s plenary session by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
In the budget breakdown, Tinubu proposed N324 billion for infrastructure, N166 billion for healthcare, N75.6 billion for education, and N31.4 billion for agriculture.
He urged the House of Representatives to review and approve the appropriation bill without delay.
On March 18, 2025, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State due to an ongoing political crisis and incidents of oil facility vandalism.
As part of the emergency measures, Tinubu suspended Rivers state’s governor, Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial six-month period.
To take charge of the state’s affairs during this period, former naval chief Ibok-Ete Ibas was appointed as the sole administrator of Rivers State.
KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently met with Siminalayi Fubara in London over the political crisis rocking Rivers state.
