A Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered a 42-year-old pastor, Samson Ajayi, to be remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter for over four years.

Ajayi, a father of five, admitted to the crime during questioning and claimed he was acting under what he described as a “generational curse.”
Magistrate Taiwo Lebi, who presided over the case, directed that Ajayi remain in custody while the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) reviews the case and issues legal advice.
The incident reportedly took place at Ajayi’s home in Igoba, Akure. He was arrested last week after his wife reported the matter to the police.
According to reports, the victim’s mother had been unaware of the abuse until she returned home one day and found their bedroom unusually scattered.
After persistent questioning, the daughter opened up about her father’s actions, leading to his arrest at a prayer mountain.
During Ajayi’s arraignment on charges of rape and defilement, the prosecutor, Supol Martins Olowofeso, told the court that the abuse occurred between March 2021 and August 2025.
The charge sheet reads in part, “That you, Samson Ajayi ‘m’ sometimes between July 2021 and August 2025, at Igoba, Akure in the Akure Magisterial district did have carnal knowledge of your biological daughter (name withheld) ‘F’17 years.”
The charges fall under Sections 3 (a, b, c) and 25 of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law of 2021.
Because of the gravity of the allegations, the prosecutor requested Ajayi’s remand and supported the application with an affidavit outlining probable cause.
While in court, Ajayi admitted to the acts but insisted it was not intentional, claiming, “I eventually did it, but I didn’t know what came over me. I think it’s a generational curse because my father also did it to my sister, his biological daughter. It was just an act to disgrace me.”
His lawyer, Kehinde Osadugba, suggested an out-of-court settlement, arguing that Ajayi’s wife had already forgiven him since he was the family’s breadwinner.
However, Magistrate Lebi rejected the plea, stressing that Ajayi’s confession was enough basis for him to be remanded.
The judge ordered the prosecutor to forward the case file to the DPP and adjourned the matter to November 20 for further review.
