In a video shared on her Instagram page, Korra Obidi could be seen twerking at Fela’s gravesite, describing the act as her “offering” to the late icon, adding that it was what he liked when he was alive.
The dancer explained that the performance was her personal way of paying tribute to the late musician known for admiring women who could dance boldly.
According to her, Seun Kuti appreciated the gesture when she stopped by, saying it captured the lively, expressive character associated with Fela’s life and music.
She said, “We all know that one thing Fela loved was a woman with gyrating hips, so I decided to pay Baba a homage. I decided to shake my ny@sh for Baba. Seun was very happy. He said you guys know what Baba likes but you’ve never given him. Baba this is a little twerk for you. Your legacy lives on, we love you.”
Korra’s visit and the video of her performance have since circulated widely, sparking mixed reactions across social media. Some saw it as disrespectful, while others viewed it as a playful tribute to a man remembered for his vibrant and unconventional lifestyle.
KanyiDaily recalls that Korra Obidi’s ex-husband, Justin Dean, previously complained that their four-year-old daughter was twerking for him.
