DSS Arrests Shafiu Usman Over Deadly Attack On ECWA Church In Kogi

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man Shafiu Usman, over the deadly attack on a church in Kogi State.

Shafiu Usman is believed to have organised the 2025 attack on the First Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Ayetoro Kiri, located in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

A source in the DSS confirmed the arrest on Friday but did not reveal where or when the suspect was captured.

The incident happened on December 14, 2025, when gunmen suspected to be terrorists invaded the church during a service.

Witnesses said the attackers opened fire, causing panic among worshippers.

According to people at the scene, the gunmen entered while prayers were ongoing.

Many worshippers ran for safety, while some were reportedly taken away through nearby bush paths.

The exact number of those abducted was not disclosed.

The attack left the community in shock, with residents fleeing as gunshots rang out.
