Obi Cubana made the comment during an event on March 11, held in support of the City Boy Movement and attended by the Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah.
Hh said that Igbo people “lack knowledge” while speaking about backing Bola Tinubu in the region.
The remark sparked criticism, with many people saying it sounded insulting to the intelligence and awareness of the Igbo community.
Speaking on BBC Igbo on Monday, Obi Cubana said his statement was misunderstood and taken out of context.
He explained that his intention was to encourage stronger political involvement among Igbo people, not to insult them.
His explanation triggered mixed reactions, with some people accepting his explanation, while others remain unhappy about the comment, especially given ongoing ethnic sensitivities in Nigerian politics.
