Tiger Woods Released On Bail After Being Arrested For Driving Under Influence

Authorities from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the 15-time major winner is facing charges for driving under the influence, causing property damage, and refusing to take a legally required test.

Sheriff John Budensiek said the 50-year-old lost control of his Land Rover on Friday afternoon in Jupiter Island after attempting to pass a pressure-cleaning truck at high speed.

The vehicle clipped the truck and flipped over at the Beach Road shortly before 2:00 p.m. local time.

Tiger Woods reportedly had to crawl out through the passenger side, but no one was hurt.

Officers at the scene did not believe alcohol played a role, although they suspected possible impairment from another substance.

Woods passed a breathalyser test, which showed no alcohol in his system, but declined to provide a urine sample.

DUI investigators said he showed signs of impairment during roadside checks, though they also considered his past injuries and surgeries while assessing his condition.

He was taken into custody and held for eight hours, which is the minimum required by state law before being granted bail.

Budensiek noted that while Woods cooperated with officers, he avoided making statements that could be used against him.

Although he had the legal right to refuse the urine test, that decision has resulted in an additional charge, and it may leave unanswered questions about what caused his condition at the time.

Reacting to the news, former US President Donald Trump described Woods as a close friend and expressed concern, calling him an “amazing person.”

The charges filed against Tiger Woods are classified as misdemeanors rather than serious criminal offences.

His representatives have been contacted for a response.
