NCoS Launches Manhunt As Seven Inmates Escape From Osun Prison

Seven inmates have escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State, after part of the prison’s old perimeter wall collapsed during heavy rainfall early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 2:00 a.m. when the rain caused the weak wall to give way, creating a chance for the prisoners to flee.

According to a statement by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) spokesperson, Umar Abubakar, a search operation is now underway to find and return the escaped inmates.

The Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, has ordered a full investigation into how the escape happened.

He also assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to bring the situation under control.

In the statement, the NCoS confirmed that they are working with other security agencies and local community leaders to track down the fugitives.

They also urged the public to help by reporting any useful information to the nearest security office or call these hotlines: 07087086005, 09060004598, or 08075050006.

The statement reads: “NCoS LAUNCHES MANHUNT AFTER RAINFALL WRECKS HAVOC ON OLD PERIMETER WALL
