POLICE FIRE TEARGAS AT PROTESTING UNILAG STUDENTS, FEMALE STUDENT COLLAPSES

Anti-riot police today fired teargas at
protesting UNILAG students in front of the university’s main gate. A female
student reportedly collapsed and was rushed to the university medical
centre.

There is an indication
that the university would be shutdown today as crisis deepens. The street
protest was as a result of renaming of the institution after the late businessman cum politician, Moshood Abiola, see pictures of the students occupying Third Mainland Bridge HERE and protesting HERE.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the
university’s Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Olukayode Amund,
subsisting directive from the Senate to close down the school would be enforced today.
