Mike Afolarin was born on the 1st of September 1993, which makes him about 30 years of age. He was born in Ogun State but moved to Lagos State at the tender age of 7 where he did his secondary and tertiary education.
He did his secondary school education at Federal Government College located at Ijakin, Lagos State.
He furthered his education by studying and bagging a degree in Economics at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). While in UNILAG, he was involved in stage plays which helped him to become more familiar with the art.
Mike Afolarin did not start his career as an actor per se. He began by being behind the scenes. He directed two movies titled ‘An Interview Story’ and ‘Peace’, and ‘The Third Rule’. Also, he had helped the Oyo State Government shoot a documentary where he helped them choose a site to install drones for capturing.
He began to appear on the screen when he appeared in ‘Kasala’ where he played a lead character in the movie. Shortly, he started getting gigs which helped him become well-known.
He appeared in movies such as ‘Deep Mud’ and ‘Blast’.
What further boosted his prominence was his outstanding performance in the African Magic TV series ‘Brethren’ where he played the role of ‘Kinto’.
In 2022, he got featured in Netflix Series, ‘Far From Home’ where he played the character ‘Ishaya’.
According to him, the role was tasking. In his words:
“Playing Ishaya was very interesting like you’d know, he did a lot of crazy stuff, he was running away from Isale Eko, he was running away from the Hyena and all that so those made it interesting but it was still a bit tasking, it also wasn’t too much of a big deal because Netflix and everyone were very supportive. The physicality of the character made it a bit tasking, I had to run here and there, had to play football, and so on. On a regular day, I won’t be running around Isale Eko or getting slapped in the face by brother government.”
Since then, he has been working with movie producers and has appeared in an MTN advertisement.
Mike Afolarin has not publicly revealed his relationship status.
We don’t know if he’s currently dating or married. Not much is known about him in this regard.
