Breaking: EFCC Declares Kogi Former Gov. Yahaya Bello Wanted for N80billion Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello wanted following allegations of involvement in financial crimes amounting to a staggering N80.2 billion.

Kanyi Daily News earlier reported that EFCC Laid Siege at Yahaya Bello’s Abuja Home, after videos circulated on social media showing armed EFCC operatives stationed outside the ex-governor’s home on Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

At the time of reporting, the reason for the siege on Bello’s residence remained unconfirmed, as EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale did not respond to inquiries regarding the incident.

Yahaya Bello, who served as the immediate past executive head of Kogi State is under intense scrutiny by The Commission which disclosed that Bello is wanted for his alleged complicity in a web of financial misappropriation, embezzlement, money laundering and other fraudulent activities during his tenure in office.

The N80.2 billion worth of economic and financial crimes allegedly perpetrated by Bello during his time as governor has sent shockwaves through Nigeria prompting urgent calls for accountability and justice.

In a public notice issued today, the EFCC has urged anyone with pertinent information regarding Yahaya Bello’s whereabouts to come forward and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Individuals can report any leads or sightings of the former governor to the Commission directly or to the nearest police station.

In response to the raid yesterday, the ex-governor’s media office issued a statement condemning the EFCC’s actions and urging President Bola Tinubu to intervene.
