Sophia Momodu Gives Court 6 Reasons Why Davido Shouldn’t Have Imade’s Custody

Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of music star Davido, has given six reasons why the singer should not get custody of their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Davido and Sophia appeared in Justice Bashua’s family court in Yaba, Lagos State, on Friday, July 5, 2024, for a joint child custody hearing initiated by Davido.

Davido’s lawyers, Dr. Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others, filed the motion at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024, naming Momodu as the only respondent.

Davido claimed that Sophia was making frustrating demands to prevent him from seeing Imade despite the co-parenting agreement they had years ago when they ended their relationship.

But Sophia in a counter-affidavit filed by her lawyer, Anthony SAN, argued that Davido is unfit for Imade’s custody because of his controversial lifestyle, among other reasons.

“The Applicant cannot take proper care of our daughter because he lives a controversial lifestyle (negative media attention) that will expose our daughter to more negative trauma at her tender age.

“The Applicant in his role as an artiste always travels and allows many unsavoury male adults around him and his house, who will not be a good influence on an impressionable young female child, like our daughter.

“The Applicant disagreed with child therapy as the Applicant has been estranged from our daughter for a while and safely and sustainably establishing a meaningful presence in our daughter’s life is paramount.

“The Applicant is an artist who always travels around the world as mandated by his career and cannot possibly be with our daughter at crucial times.

“The Applicant is married to another woman, and they live together. The proper upbringing of our daughter by another cannot be guaranteed.

“The fact that the Applicant lost his son in his house in rather unfortunate and questionable circumstances shows that our daughter cannot be placed in the custody of the Applicant,” Momodu argued.

Sophia Momodu’s legal team also claimed that the court notice was improperly served through a newspaper, violating Lagos State Child Rights Law.

The judge agreed that while the press can report on the case, the child’s name should not be disclosed.

He said he thought the notice was served via WhatsApp and ordered everyone except the involved parties to leave the courtroom.

The court then decided to refer the case to the Alternative Dispute Resolution section of the court for potential settlement during Settlement Week.

KanyiDaily recalls that Sophia Momodu recently escalated her feud with Davido by serving him with a cease and desist letter.
