In a statement on Tuesday, the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said officers from the Kano Zonal Directorate arrested the actress after a video surfaced online showing her allegedly using naira notes to wipe her nose.
According to Oyewale, the commission began tracking her after the clip went viral on social media.
He said the Hausa actress was later arrested and invited for questioning over the incident.
“She was seen in a viral video cleaning her nose with naira notes. The commission swung into action, traced and arrested her to answer questions,” the statement said.
Oyewale added that she will be taken to court once investigations are completed.
Under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, acts such as spraying, defacing, damaging, or otherwise abusing the naira are prohibited.
Section 21(3) of the same law outlines penalties for offenders, including fines and possible jail terms.
In recent months, the EFCC has stepped up efforts to enforce these rules, especially in cases involving the misuse of the naira at parties and in online videos.
KanyiDaily recalls that the EFCC previously arrested TikTok influencer, Murja Ibrahim Kunya in Kano over allegations of misusing the Naira Notes.
