There were unfounded rumors suggesting that Obi and his wife, Margaret Obi, had been arrested at their home in Anambra State.
However, Peter Obi’s Media Adviser, Valentine Obienyem dismissed these claims as completely false and unsubstantiated in a statement released on Tuesday.
Obienyem noted that the rumors began circulating on Saturday but were quickly debunked.
He clarified that Obi was not even in Anambra at the time of the supposed incident, as he was in Rwanda for important engagements.
Obienyem confirmed that Obi has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively engaged in party and national matters.
He said, “As of Saturday, Mr. Obi was in Rwanda attending to important engagements.
“He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters.”
“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made,” Mr. Obienyem emphasised.
He urged the public to ignore these false claims and to be cautious of misinformation, noting that official updates regarding Obi will be provided through proper channels.
“As the situation develops, Mr. Obi continues to focus on his commitment to the nation, while his team remains steadfast in providing accurate updates on his activities,” Obienyem added.
