Gwamnishu had been arrested by the police in Edo State over allegations that he misappropriated part of the crowdfunded ransom for a young couple who were kidnapped in Aviele community near Auchi on November 22, 2025.
The dispute arose after money was raised to secure the release of Mr. and Mrs. Segiru.
Abdulganiyu Oseni, the elder brother of the kidnapped wife, accused Gwamnishu of diverting the funds while mediating through his Safe City Volunteer Foundation.
According to Oseni, the family raised ₦20 million plus an additional ₦50,000 as ransom to secure the release of the couple.
He claimed Gwamnishu kept most of the money, sending only ₦5.4 million to the Auchi Area Police Command before allegedly leaving the area.
Oseni described Harrison Gwamnishu as a “thief” and said the diversion put the couple’s lives at risk, as only the wife was released.
In a recent update, Ossai Success Ovie, an aide to the Delta State governor, announced on Facebook that the Edo High Court had granted Gwamnishu bail.
He wrote, “Harrison Gwamnishu has been granted bail at the High Court of Justice in Edo State. Very Dark Man and others are now disappointed. Their plans failed woefully. I am disappointed in them all. Glory be to Jesus.”
KanyiDaily recalls that VeryDarkMan acknowledged that he was the one who contacted the police, leading to the arrest of activist Harrison Gwamnishu, in Benin, Edo State.
