Victor Boniface Misses Bayer Leverkusen Training Amid Interest From From Al Nassr

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface missed training on Tuesday morning, sparking rumors about a potential move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr FC as the winter transfer window approaches its close.

Victor Boniface, who joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2023, has been in outstanding form in the German league.

Reports suggest Al Nassr sees him as a key target to strengthen their attack following Anderson Talisca’s transfer to Fenerbahçe.

If the deal goes through, Boniface could become a strike partner for Cristiano Ronaldo at the Saudi club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Monday that Al Nassr has initiated talks with Bayer Leverkusen regarding the Nigerian striker.

He wrote, “Understand Al Nassr have started official talks for Victor Boniface as a new striker. Negotiations on with Bayer Leverkusen for the Nigerian striker to replace Talisca. The other candidate is Jhon Durán but Aston Villa still insist on keeping him at the club.”

Later updates revealed Al Nassr’s representatives are in Germany to negotiate with both Bayer Leverkusen and Boniface’s camp.

Romano said, “Understand Al Nassr delegation is now in Germany to negotiate with both the player side and Bayer Leverkusen. Talks are underway as revealed. Boniface and Jhon Durán are the two main names on Al Nassr list.”

Victor Boniface’s absence from training ahead of Leverkusen’s Champions League clash with Sparta Praha has further fueled speculation.

According to Sky Sport Germany, the absence is linked to ongoing discussions with Al Nassr, whose officials are reportedly meeting with Leverkusen and Boniface’s representatives.

Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly open to selling Boniface but has set a price tag of approximately €50 million.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international has been a standout performer for the Bundesliga club, scoring 29 goals in 49 matches across all competitions since joining.

With the winter transfer window closing in a matter of days, it remains to be seen if Al Nassr can finalize the deal and secure Boniface’s signature.

KanyiDaily recalls that Victor Boniface recently voiced his disappointment over being left out of the shortlist for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year award.
