Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa on Wednesday, El-Rufai said he believes he may be targeted.
The ex-governor, who is now a leading figure in the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), has recently increased his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the APC, the party under which he served as governor for eight years.
According to him, several of his former associates in Kaduna have already been arrested.
“About four people we worked with in Kaduna have been arrested. So, it may only be a matter of time before they come for me as well” he said during the BBC interview.
KanyiDaily recalls that Nasir El-Rufai warned that President Bola Tinubu may attempt to hold onto power beyond his term if Nigerians do not rally against him in the 2027 elections.
