I Spend ₦40,000 Daily Just To Provide Electricity In My House – Pete Edochie [Video]

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has spoken out about Nigeria’s worsening electricity crisis, revealing that he spends about N40,000 every day just to keep power running in his home.

During an interview on African Independent Television (AIT), the 78-year-old actor lamented how unreliable electricity supply continues to place a heavy financial burden on many Nigerians.

Peter Edochie explained that his daily expenses include around N10,000 to purchase electricity units, N20,000 for diesel used in his main generator, and another N10,000 for petrol to run a smaller generator.

According to him, the combined cost adds up to N40,000 each day simply to maintain electricity at home.

“I spend about ₦10,000 every day buying electricity units. Then I spend ₦20,000 on diesel to power the generator and another ₦10,000 on petrol for a smaller generator. That brings the total to ₦40,000 daily just to provide electricity in my house”, he said.

Edochie also criticized politicians, saying many people enter politics mainly to enjoy authority rather than improve the lives of citizens.

He said the situation frustrates him because ordinary Nigerians continue to struggle with basic services while those in power appear unconcerned about the hardships faced by the public.

“It disturbs me a lot because I’m not just working for light. Then I listen to people who are only interested in getting into politics and enjoying power. Nobody seems to be bothered about what’s happening to the common man,” he added.

His comments reflect the growing frustration among many Nigerians who said they receive only a few hours of electricity daily, despite the government’s band system that was meant to improve power distribution.

KanyiDaily recalls that Pete Edochie recently said that Igbo men often face difficulties in politics because they don’t tolerate betrayal.
