In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Makinde dismissed the claims, saying there is no problem between them, stressing that much of what people believe comes from assumptions created on social media.
“Nothing really happened between me and Madam Funke, and I am not aware of any fallout. Social media likes constructing their own script, and when they are done, they start looking for people to fill in the character they want,” he said.
Tobi Makinde also pointed out that their bond existed long before social media conversations started, so it cannot be judged or ended by online speculation.
He went on to explain that growth in the movie industry can sometimes change how people relate with one another, and outsiders may wrongly interpret that as a quarrel.
“Our relationship didn’t start on social media, so it’s not on social media it will end. There are some growths in life that will cost you some relationships, and it may look like it’s lost in transit, but that’s not how it is,” he added.
Speaking on why Funke Akindele was absent from his wedding last December, Makinde explained that she was busy working on one of her movie projects at the time.
The actor also acknowledged that his success and progress in the film industry were greatly influenced by her support and mentorship.
The rumours about a possible fallout started after Funke Akindele was absent from his wedding ceremony in December, which led to widespread online speculation.
KanyiDaily recalls that Funke Akindele recently opened up about how deeply she handles relationships following the viral moment where she appeared to ignore her colleague Toyin Abraham at a movie premiere.
