The traditional ruler of Umueze Abazu autonomous community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State Eze Stanley Akuneto was reportedly shot dead by armed men. That the late Monarch was shot in front of his palace on Monday April 7 at about 9.30 pm.
According to family sources, Eze Akuneto returned home from a visit to a sick relation when the gunmen struck.
It was further gathered that the killers rode on a motor bike and took advantage of the dark environment to carry out the dastardly cut.
The late monarch was a Port Harcourt-based businessman before he was installed as the traditional ruler of his community.
The death of the traditional ruler came barely 24 hours after the newly elected monarch of Awo Mbieri autonomous community in Mbaitoli LGA, Eze Oliver Nwaozuzu and his wife were kidnapped by gunmen during church service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Awo Mbieri.
Meanwhile, panic and fear have enveloped the community as some residents have fled the town following the brutal killing of their traditional ruler.
