14 year old boy jumps to his death cos he thought his girlfriend was going to dump him
Ben Fitchett, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, died after he fell into traffic from a motorway bridge the day after he rowed with his girlfriend. The teenager, who worked in a hospice shop and was a keen percussionist, had returned home from a Scout trip to Switzerland the previous day. While he was away, his girlfriend of six months had accessed his private Facebook messages and read details of a previous relationship he’d had, before confronting Ben on his return.
After the quarrel and assurances from his girlfriend that she still loved him, Ben thought otherwise and ended his life by jumping off the bridge.
But before doing so, he sent her a voiemail message and he said ”Hi, I’m going to do it. Just so you know I do love you, but you deserve better than me.”
