Fighting back tears and heavy emotion, the father of two kids found dead in their mother’s freezer came forward over the weekend to speak out on behalf of his children.

Alex Dorsey told WGN TV that he didn’t understand why the mother of his two children suddenly wouldn’t let him take his kids for visits for the last two years.

“Two years. Every time I asked, she was never there,” he said of his daughter Stoni, who would have been 15 now.

Last week, Stoni and her brother Stephen were found murdered in the mother’s – Mitchelle Blair – apartment. The state’s medical examiner has released a report calling the death of the two children homicides.

Authorities say the two surviving children were never allowed out of the house and not allowed to go to school, and lived with the knowledge their brother and sister were in the freezer in the house.

Dorsey said when he would go to the apartment, the eldest, who is now 17, would talk to him but only let him as far as the door. Dorsey said he last went to the apartment about seven months ago.

“Lord have mercy,” he said on camera. “She was right there.”

Dorsey said he paid child support for years until he lost his job a few months ago. He says, however, that child services is trying to take away his rights to see his eldest, who has been placed with other family members.

Court records show, however, that he owes $39,000 in back child support.

According to WGN, Blair has confessed to the murders.
