Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Manchester United following their disappointing start to the season.
Manchester United have confirmed that Jose Mourniho has left the club as first team coach. Speculation grew over the weekend surrounding his continuation on the Old Trafford bench after the poor performance and 3-1 defeat away to Liverpool at Anfield.
Manchester United stated that they would appoint an interim coach (reported to be Micheal Carrick) to oversee the team for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign and thanked the Setubal born coach for his services.
In a brief communique, the club stated:
‘Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.
The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.
A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.’
