Nigeria’s Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode has attacked the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, for being disrespectful over what he termed unpatriotic comments towards Nigeria.
Five Ghanaians and three Nigerians were arrested in connection with the kidnap of two young Canadian women who were freed from their ordeal by Ghanaian security forces.
Local media quoted President Nana Akufo-Addo as warning Ghanaians that action must be taken to ensure that kidnapping “doesn’t become a feature of our society”.
“Our brothers and sisters in Nigeria have known it,” Akufo-Addo said.
“But we have not known it in this country, and we need to do something about it, to make sure that it doesn’t become a feature of our society.”
Fani Kayode, who reacted to President Akufo-Addo’s comment through his Twitter handle, said:
“There is no doubt that Nigeria is going through a major crisis in terms of security yet we are still a nation that cannot be pushed around or ridiculed by any other African country.
“It is unacceptable that the President of Ghana, Akufo-Addo, should make reference to Nigeria’s kidnap problem in a statement to his people.
“This is petty and disrespectful given the support Nigeria has given Ghana for years.
“Despite our challenges Nigeria still dwarfs Ghana!I advise my brother and former in-law @NAkufoAddoo:incur not the wrath of MIGHTY Nigeria!”
