The 15-year-old girl, Miss Chikwendu, who sparked outrage online after being forced to marry an old man who has mental problem because the man comes from a wealthy family in Anambra state, has finally gone back to school.
KanyiDaily had reported about Miss Chikwendu who was forced to marry a mentally unstable man named Izuchukwu Igwilo in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government of Anambra State.
The wedding between the duo which happened in January this year, sparked outrage among Nigerians who vehemently condemned what they termed as ‘unholy’ union, ranging from the fact that the man in question is mentally unstable, suffering from demented brain, not normal and at the same time he is a drunkard.

Following the public outcry, the state Commissioner for Women and Children affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, intervened and Chikwendu was retrieved from the Igwilos.
She was rehabilitated, trained in tailoring and empowered with other 100 Ndi Anambra by Industrial Training Fund, ITF.
Concluding the process of healing and rehabilitation, Chinwendu was on Tuesday accompanied by the Honorable Commissioner, her elderly father and some staff of the ministry of women and children affairs to the school where she will continue with her education.
Meanwhile, Miss Chikwendu was reported to be a nursing mother with a six months old baby.
