Coronavirus: US Records Over 1500 Deaths In Single Day, Nigeria Confirms Highest Death Rate

The United States on Saturday, May 9, 2020, recorded more than 1,500 coronavirus deaths in the span of just 24 hours.

This brings the total number of deaths in the country to 80,037, according to the real-time tally reported by Johns Hopkins University on Saturday night.

The US is presently one of the countries worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic which broke out last year ending in Wuhan, China.

The United States has recorded 1,347,309 coronavirus cases with over 200,000 recoveries.

Meanwhile, Nigeria on Saturday recorded 11 fatalities which is the most coronavirus deaths in a single day.

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the total number of deaths resulting from COVID-19 in the country stood at 128 on Saturday.

Nigeria, one of the hardest-hit countries in Africa, has recorded 4115 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 745 discharged.
