Mike Ozekhome Leads Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Team As IPOB Leader Arrives In Court

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has hired a human rights activist, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) as his lead counsel representing him in the case brought against him by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The development was confirmed by the former lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor to reporters this morning, January 18, at the federal high court where Kanu is expected to be arraigned.

Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu has arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja am amidst tight security as operatives of the Department of State Services frisked journalists and lawyers who come to witness his trial today before Justice Binta Nyako.

Speaking with newsmen after Kanu’s arrival at 7 am on Thursday, his defence counsel, Mike Ozekhome said, “Yes, I’m now in the legal team and that’s why you’re seeing me in court.”

The court had yet to commence sitting as of the time of filing this report.

KanyiDaily recalls that Nnamdi Kanu had charged his supporters to be civil in their conduct and comportment, “shun violence and defiant behavior in any manner or form, and exercise restraint in speech” during his court appearance today.
