Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has opened up about his intention to run for the presidency in the 2023 general election.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the former governor said he will run for the 2023 presidency if his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), zones its ticket to the Southern region of the country.
Obi, who was the running mate of former vice-president Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election, added that Nigerians will hear from him if the PDP ticket is thrown open.
He wrote, “Yes, I will step into the field to contest for the opportunity to serve this great country as President if my party, the @OfficialPDPNig, zones the ticket to the south. But if it is thrown open, Nigerians will also hear from me.”
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2020, Peter Obi had denied being behind the presidential campaign poster being circulated on social media that he would be running alongside the former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
