A young farmer by the name, Gidi Dan Auta has lost his seven hectares of rice farm to flood.
Taking to his twitter handle on Saturday evening, September 24 to share a photo of the flooded farm, Auta said he started farming rice two years ago after finishing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
According to him, he started with three hectares and due to the success of the farm, decided to expand it to seven hectares this year by investing “a lot of money”, unfortunately, flood has now taken over the entire farm.
He wrote, “All hope lost! After 2years of successful farming (rice) on 3hectares of land after my NYSC, this year I decided to expand to 7hectares and a lot of money invested. Unfortunately, flood had occurred on us. God na your hand I de😢😢😢.”
He did not however, disclose the state or location of his farm.
Taking to the comment section of his post, twitter users have been sympathising and reaching out to him by asking for his account details.
Efforts by Kanyi Daily to reach him have not been successful.
Two messages sent to the WhatsApp line he provided have not been responded to. Also several calls to the number say the line is switched off at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, it was reported that price of rice will crash to NN9000 in three weeks as farmers record bumper harvest.
