Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kill Three People, Injure Another During Attack In Benue

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have killed three people and injured another person during an attack in Tse-Ikem, Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Benue Attacked By Herdsmen

It was gathered that the first incident involving a young man happened on Friday while the remaining two persons were killed on Sunday.

A community leader, Joseph Anawah, said the incident which occurred near Arufu rural town caused pandemonium among the residents.

Anawah said, “On Sunday October 23, 2022 at about 6pm, Mr Aondona Saai and Mr Avalumun Ukerchia Adaa of Tse-Igbur in Ukemberagya of Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council ward of Logo LGA were murdered by armed herdsmen at Tse Ikem on the road near Anawah settlement between Chembe and Anyiin road.”

A local, Mkaahan Sunday, said suspected herdsmen also attacked a yet to be identified man at Goor Gaambe Tiev, in Logo LGA.

Chairman of Logo LGA, Salome Tor, who confirmed that three people were killed, said the two people were riding on a motorcycle when they were shot dead by the suspected herders.

On Sunday about 5pm, two men on a motorcycle with a lady were ambushed by those who butchered them.

“They (gunmen) left the woman and she ran into the bush, so that was how we were able to know what happened.

“There has been selected killings of people and the target is the men not women per say… we have high patrol of security agencies. Even on Friday, they killed one young man and burnt his motorcycle,” she told Daily Trust.

The chairman, who noted that combined security men, comprising military, police and agro rangers, had been patrolling the area, called for more officers to be stationed in the area as, according to her, the suspected herders always hide in the bush to monitor people’s movement.

This comes barely one week after suspected herdsmen attacked Gbeji community in Ukum local government area of Benue and killed 36 people, including women and children.
