Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has advised the next president of Nigeria should appoint the next Comptroller General of Customs from serving officers of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and not from outside of the service.
Sani stated this in a short tweet on his official handle.
He did not, however, give a reason for his advice.
The current CG of the NCS is Hammed Ali, a retired colonel of the Nigerian Army, appointed in 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was also believed that his appointment represented a procedural mistake by the president.
Sani wrote, “The next President of Nigeria should appoint the next Comptroller General of Customs from the serving officers of the Nigerian Customs Service and not from outside of the Customs Service.”
