Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye has sent a strong message to governors elected under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the naira redesign/swap policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which has led to naira scarcity and economic hardship in the country.
Kanyi Daily reported that Buhari had on Thursday, directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to recirculate only the old N200 notes.
The president’s directive was after the supreme court did not vacate the order that the old N200, N500, and N1000 notes are still legal tender.
Since Buhari’s directive, some of the APC governors have been giving contrary directives to their state citizens to continue accepting the old N500 and N1000 notes.
Taking to his official Twitter handle on Monday morning, Peter Okoye told the APC governors that the Nigerian people are not complaining about the CBN policy.
According to Peter Okoye, the Nigerian people are used to suffering the “APC has brought upon us.”
He said the Nigerian people stand with Buhari and the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele on the policy, adding that there are still N50, N100, and N200 notes in circulation.
He wrote, “Dear APC Governors,
We the Nigerian people are not complaining about the policy. As a matter of fact, we are so used to the hardship APC has brought upon us.
“We actually stand with Buhari and Emefiele on this one. We still have N50, N100, and N200 Notes in circulation! Desperados👎🏾.”
