Union And Keystone Banks Set Ablaze As Residents Protest Over Naira Scarcity In Ogun [Video]

Keystone and Union banks have been set ablaze by angry residents during a protest over the scarcity of naira notes in Shagamu, Ogun state.

The protesters, who lamented the pains and agonies they were passing through to access their money, also made bonfires with disused tyres on major streets.

The protesting residents were also chanting anti-government songs, but it was learnt that they did not touch any passer-by or motorists, whom they described as part of the suffering members of the public.

Videos shared on Monday showed many residents watching as Keystone and Union banks were set ablaze with some youths holding planks in protest.

The buildings were believed to be empty at the time of the incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bola Oyeyemi, could not be reached as at the time of filing this report, as phone calls to his line were not responded to as well as text messages.
