Atiku Abubakar; the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, amongst other leaders of the party led the protest.
The protesters later blocked the INEC headquarters’ entrance. The security personnel at the Commission have since locked the gate.
Others at the protest include the Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel; the Director General of PCC and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the keenly contested election amid widespread reports of rigging and all sorts of electoral malpractices.
Major opposition candidates, Atiku and Peter Obi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) respectively have since rejected the outcome of the election. Videos and pictures from all sorts of electoral malpractice supposedly from the poll flooded social media.
Both Atiku and Obi have also since commenced legal redress of the poll.
Also, the majority of Nigerians have since rejected Tinubu as the president-elect, saying he was not the candidate they voted for.
There were allegations and reports of widespread rigging of the election by INEC to ensure that the former Lagos governor wins the polls.
