On May 15, 2023, Hilda Baci achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing the previous Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time held by Chef Lata Tondon from Rewa, India in 2019.
The Akwa Ibom chef, who broke Tondon’s record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, cooked for 100 hours and 40 minutes to set a new world record as the first individual in the world to spend such an amount of time cooking.
After three weeks of review, the Guinness World Records finally confirmed Hilda Baci’s remarkable achievement on Tuesday, June 13, with an impressive time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Meanwhile, Chef Dammy officially reached the 120-hour landmark in the ongoing cook-a-thon on Wednesday, June 14, after cooking for five days from Friday, June 9.
While awaiting the formal verification process by the Guinness World Records, Chef Dammy stands on the verge of claiming the title of the new world record holder—a truly exceptional achievement in her cooking career.
The 26-year-old Chef had the distinguished honor of receiving a visit from the Vice Chancellor and management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, further solidifying her status as a pioneering figure in the culinary world.
KanyiDaily recalls that the First Lady of Ekiti State, Olayemi Oyebanji had expressed her support for Chef Dammy for attempting to break Hilda Baci’s cooking record.
