Chef Dammy Reacts As Guinness World Records Denies Approving Her Cook-A-Thon

A Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi, better known as Chef Dammy, has responded to the statement by Guinness World Records regarding her 120-hour cook-a-thon.

KanyiDaily reported that Chef Dammy reached the 120-hour landmark in her cook-a-thon on Wednesday, June 14, after cooking for five days from Friday, June 9.

Following her endeavor, Guinness World Record clarified that Dammy did not submit an application before attempting to surpass her colleague, Hilda Baci, who broke the record for the longest cooking time with an impressive time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.

Reacting on her Facebook page, Dammy stated that she made it clear that she wasn’t trying to break Hilda’s record but was pushing her own limits to test her capabilities.

The Ekiti chef expressed her delight in persevering throughout the culinary marathon and refusing to give up on the 120-hour cook-a-thon which has earned her a name in the Nigerian space.

She wrote, “I stated this earlier that I embarked on this journey to test my capability not for any GWR.. l am happy that I cooked for 120 hours. I am proud that I never gave up”

KanyiDaily recalls that on May 15, 2023, Hilda Baci achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing the previous Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time held by Chef Lata Tondon from Rewa, India in 2019.
