Gov Seyi Makinde Appoints Omolewa As Auxiliary’s Replacement

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has appointed the former secretary of the disbanded Park Management System (PMS), Oluwatomiwa Omolewa, as the new PMS chairman.

Omolewa’s appointment was contained in a statement by Makinde’s
Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Sunday.

The governor, the statement disclosed, also ordered the reopening of the parks, which had been under lock and key following the dissolution of the PMS Disciplinary Committee led by Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called Auxiliary.

Kanyi Daily had reported that the state Police Command declared Auxiliary wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms and ammunition.

Auxillary, whose house was also raided by the police, was further accused of robbery, kidnapping, and other criminal acts.

According to the statement, the governor also announced Kasali Lawal, fondly called Baba Bola, as the PMS secretary.

He said the appointment was part of the reorganisation of the PMS embarked upon by the state government, adding that the new management team comprises members from all the major factions in the transport union.

Apart from the chairman and secretary, other members of the management include the Deputy Chairman, Tajudeen Jimoh; Treasurer, Kamardeen Idowu; Financial Secretary, Tirimisiyu Olowoposi; Organising Secretary, Abass Amolese and Auditor, Hamidu Mustapha Were.

Others are First Vice-Chairman, Abideen Ejiogbe; First Trustee, Ganiyu Mojeed; Second Trustee, Musa Alubankudi; Second Auditor, Akinsola Tokyo, and Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Emiola.

Speaking after the announcement, the chairman, Omolewa, said he would work towards ensuring peace across the state.

He said, “I thank Makinde for counting me worthy of this position. I use this opportunity to assure the people of the state and the government that there will be a difference in our attitude to work. I promise that the people will notice a significant difference in our operations as we assume office.”

The governor had, earlier on Sunday, while speaking during a thanksgiving service held at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church, Aremo in Ibadan, vowed to deal decisively with all troublemakers in the state.

Meanwhile, Auxiliary a few days ago, said the police can not declare him wanted, saying the governor was his benefactor.
