“How I Felt Like A Loser, Like I Wasn’t Worth Anything” – Johnny Drille Recounts His Musical Journey

Nigerian singer, John Ighodaro, popularly known as Johnny Drille, has opened up about his music career, recounting a moment from his past when he felt like a “loser.”

During an interview with former Big Brother Naija housemate, Kim Oprah, on Hip TV’s programme, Trending, Johnny Drille revealed how he was evicted from Project Fame in 2013, after failing to secure a spot in the top 10.

The singer went on to explain that the night of his eviction marked a significant turning point for him because it was the first time he felt like a loser and believed he was not worth anything.

He said that it was during that challenging moment that he made a life-changing decision to become a great person, a remarkable musician, and an exceptional artist.

Johnny Drille’s breakthrough came in 2015 after releasing his hit song, “Wait For Me,” under the renowned Mavin Records, headed by Don Jazzy.

He said: “A lot of people don’t know but I was on Project Fame in 2013. I did not make top 10 not to talk of winning. But for me, it was like the beginning of everything for all these.

“I know when I was evicted that night, something was born in me. For the first time in my life, I feel like a loser. I feel like I wasn’t worth anything.

“That night, I made a decision that I’m going to become a great person, a great musician, a great artiste. So, it was from then that I started doing music professionally.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Johnny Drille had recently announced his marriage to his wife, Rima Tahini, who he described as the very best part while appreciating her for loving him and for completing him.
