“It’s Time To Scrap NYSC” – Kate Henshaw Reacts To Abduction Of Corpers In Zamfara

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has reacted to the abduction of eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Zamfara State.

A few days ago, suspected gunmen intercepted an Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) bus carrying the victims on their way from Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom, to Zamfara State for their year-long national service.

Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press at NYSC Headquarters, confirmed the incident, explaining that the kidnapped graduates were on their way to the orientation camp when the gunmen intercepted their vehicle on the outskirts of Zamfara.

In response, the NYSC Director-General has traveled to Zamfara to collaborate with security agencies and secure the safe release of the kidnapped individuals.

Reacting on her Twitter page, Kate Henshaw reflected on her own NYSC experiences in the Northern part of the country, noting the memorable times she had.

The actress, however,  expressed concern about the current safety of corps members, emphasizing that their domestic travels are no longer secure.

She advocated for the discontinuation of the NYSC program, arguing that national security should be an absolute priority that should go beyond mere technical solutions.

Kate Henshaw tweeted, “When I served in the North,it was a very memorable experience. Travelling from Bauchi by road to the airport was safe & then flying to Lagos just with my NYSC ID card, which also got me rebate on my ticket.

“It’s time to SCRAP this idea since corpers can’t travel within this country without LET OR HINDRANCE! Stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas. Security is a priority & needs to be sorted totally, not technically.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Kate Henshaw recently took to social media to address those criticizing her for meeting Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
