Bawa had been arrested and held by the DSS on June 14, 2023, following an invitation for undisclosed reasons, which came after he visited President Bola Tinubu earlier on the same day.
He regained his freedom on Wednesday night, October 25.
The Director, of Public Relations and Strategic Communications of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, confirmed the release of Bawa in a post on the agency’s official X ((Formerly Twitter) account.
“DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago, today, Oct. 25,” he posted on X (Formerly Twitter).
